Poole-based Blakell Europlacer has been named one of the top-performing mid-market businesses in the Central South of England by national Accountancy & Business Advisory firm BDO LLP. The Blakell Europlacer Group comprises the Europlacer and Speedprint Technology business units, which manufacture automatic pick & place machines and screen printing equipment respectively, used in the surface mount assembly of electronic circuit boards.
This is the second successive year that Europlacer has been recognised by the BDO Central South annual award campaign – an initiative designed to champion companies across the region. The firm’s expert judging panel evaluates businesses based on a combination of operating profit and turnover growth measured over both a one-year and three-year period.
“The region’s diverse mid-sized and growing entrepreneurial businesses are its economic engine,” believes Malcolm Thixton, Lead Partner at BDO in Southampton. “Despite political and economic uncertainty, and fluctuating business optimism around Brexit, Blakell Europlacer is a great example of a mid-sized company that continues to thrive, displaying another strong performance over the last three years. It is one of the Central South’s success stories,” he adds.
“We returned a record year for business in 2017 and are about to announce even better results for 2018,” says Andy Jones, Business Development & UK Sales Manager at Europlacer. “That includes record global sales for both Europlacer and Speedprint, a huge 24% increase in sales in the US and Asia, and staffing at an all-time high with more than 170 people in the group. So it’s great to gain the recognition of BDO LLP for a second time for this business performance.”
